Obesity Epidemic: Does It Matter?

In the 1960s and 1970s only 13 percent of U.S. adults and 5 to 7 percent of U.S. children were obese. Today those figures have risen to 34 percent for adults and 15 to 20 percent for children. 70 to 80 percent of obese children remain obese as adults and obese adults (BMI>30) have a 13 year shorter life expectancy than those with the optimal BMI.

Does your child get 60 minutes of physical activity a day?

Our Passion

Founded in 1982 and now in our 37th year, Spirals is built around a passion for seeing chidren succeed in sport and life. The US Physical Activity Guidelines recommend that children should have 60 minutes or more of physical activity per day. However, today's sedentary, screen-based lifestyle means very few actually achieve this.

Our Goals

Exercise brings rewards in self-esteem, confidence and mental and physical ability. Children naturally build strength, stamina and resolve when they run, jump and play. Spirals' goal is to help all our students achieve basic healthy goals and to do so through an active and fun curriculum.

TESTIMONIALS

We're making a Difference Our curriculum offers school-age kids the recommended 1 hour or more of physical activity daily. Children naturally build strong muscles and bones when they run, jump, and play.
